Meet Colleen..

Updated: Dec 12, 2021

Hey there! My name is Colleen, but my friends call me Coll. I’m a Registered Dietitian, and one of the co-founders of Nutrition Empowered, LLC. Yes, I’m super passionate about Intuitive Eating, eating disorder recovery, and body positivity, but there’s so much more to me that you might not know…

I’m originally from Buffalo, NY (go bills baby), and grew up swimming, skiing, playing outside, going to catholic school, and going to summer camp every summer. My disordered eating journey began in high school, where I developed an undiagnosed eating disorder. I felt so alone, and had no idea how much I would struggle with eating for the years to come.

I moved to Cleveland, Ohio to go to undergrad at John Carroll University. There I majored in Biology, joined the crew team, became involved in service, went on a medical mission trip, made tons of friends, and secretly struggled with disordered eating. I was curious about Intuitive Eating, so I started to read about it, but didn’t quite start recovery until grad school. I got my Masters in Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University, so I could go on to become a dietitian. In this program, I learned so much from my friends and in the classroom about sustainable practices and eating to fuel my body, not to punish it. It was here I sought professional help, and started to truly recover from my eating disorder(s).

I matched to The Ohio State University’s Human Nutrition Dietetic Internship, and so I moved to Columbus, Ohio. During my internship, I decided to live with Jordan, and another girl named Emily (both strangers to me at the time), which ended up being one of the best decisions I could’ve made. They helped me normalize normal eating, without them even knowing it. Our dinner table became a safe place for eating, catching up on our days, studying, confiding in each other, and creating memories. This year was by far the most impactful year in recovery for me because I started taking my mental health way more seriously, and really did the work to tell my eating disorder to F*CK off.

Now, I’m working full time as a Health and Wellness Coach at Quantum Health, and as a Registered Dietitian for YOU! I couldn’t be grateful for both these opportunities, as they are what's allowed me to 1. Stay in Columbus to foster friendships, professional connections, and my business 2. Make my professional dreams a reality.

Xoxo,

Coll
